On Doppler Shifts of Breaking Waves

چکیده
Field-tower-based observations were used to estimate the Doppler velocity of deep water plunging breaking waves. About 1000 wave events observed by a synchronized video camera and dual-polarization continuous-wave Ka-band radar at incidence angles varying from 25 55 degrees various azimuths analyzed using computer vision methods. velocities (DVs) associated with waves were, for first time, directly compared whitecap optical measured as line-of-sight projection vector (LOV). The DV LOV found correlated; however, was systematically less than ratio dependent on angle azimuth. largest DVs up-wave down-wave directions accompanied an increase cross-section polarization ratio, HH/VV, up 1, indicating non-polarized backscattering mechanism. qualitatively reproduced in terms combination fast specular (coherent) slow non-specular (incoherent) returns two planar sides asymmetric wedge-shaped breaker. difference roughness tilt between breaker (the front face rougher rear face) explained asymmetry consistent previously reported mean sea surface centroid data normalized measurements.

Improving Long PN-Code Acquisition in the Presence of Doppler Frequency Shifts
Wireless communication is the major form of connection nowadays. In most cases it exploits the benefits of the spread spectrum techniques to overcome channel introduced corruptions like Doppler residual frequency, noise, interference and jamming. These techniques also enhance the security and quality of the link. Using long spreading pseudo-noise codes provides further security for the link tho...
متن کاملThe Study of Ultrasonic Waves on Dormancy-Breaking in Ferula Assa-Foetida, Ferula Gummusa and Myrtus Communis
Medical plants are adapted to different kinds of dormancy to survive in the worst situations. Regarding to ecological viewpoint, this kind of adaptation is very important in respect to restriction of genetic draft and decrease of genetic resource of medicinal plants. This leads to plant survival even after prolonged drought. Since some of them are endangered species and in the other hand increa...
متن کاملBreaking Waves in Population Flows
We test the controversial ideas about the role of corridors in fragmented animal habitats. Using simulation studies we analyze how fragmentation affects a simple prey-predator system and how the introduction of openings that connect the habitats changes the situation. Our individual based model consists of 3 levels: renewable prey food, as well as prey and predators that both have a simple econ...
متن کاملSubharmonic resonant excitation of edge waves by breaking surface waves
We have added a new Figure 3, where we show two frequency spectra. The first spectrum (Figure 3 a) is in absence of the breaking waves, where the first peak indicates the edge wave frequency and the second peak indicates the surface elevation frequency. The second frequency spectrum (Figure 3 b) is plotted in presence of breaking wave and indicates the suppression of the peak for the edge wave ...
متن کاملComposite Scattering of Ship on Sea Surface with Breaking Waves
The composite backscattering of the ship model on sea surface is investigated with the spilling breaking waves and ship bow waves. The spilling breakers are approximately modeled with the wedge-like waves, and the ship bow waves are simulated based on the Kelvin model. With the modified four-path model, each scattering component is evaluated with the high frequency approximation methods for the...
